Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative, the UOB Group has a wide coverage in Southeast Asia and holds a leading position among regional banks. There are more than 400 outlets in the Southeast Asian countries connected by the Maritime Silk Road.

Sinosecu has provided a large number of passport readers to United Overseas Bank (Thai) PCL (hereinafter referred to as "UOB (Thai)"). These readers are applied in more than 150 branches of UOB (Thai). Relying on industry-leading algorithm technologies such as image processing, OCR text recognition, artificial intelligence, and radio frequency identification, they are used in the account opening business at the manual counters of UOB (Thai). They can identify passports from countries around the world, achieve intelligent identification and entry of document information, optimize work processes, further strengthen the real-name system of bank accounts, prevent illegal activities such as opening accounts in someone else's name, and maintain economic and financial order.

(1)UOB (Thai) has integrated and applied the Sinosecu passport reader at its counters. When customers conduct business, they present their passports and other identification documents. The passport reader automatically classifies and accurately identifies all the field information such as the name and number on the document, as well as the document photo, and intelligently enters the information into the business system. The system then automatically compares the document information to complete the real-name authentication.

The passport reader supports reading electronic passports and paper passports from more than 200 countries that comply with the ICAO DOC 9303 standard, as well as identification documents from multiple countries such as Thai identity cards and driving licenses. And it can add new types of identifiable documents according to different customer needs.

(2) When handling account opening business, bank staff need to collect a lot of information of citizens, including identity document numbers, names, genders, ethnic groups, dates of birth, and addresses. Manually entering these numerous and lengthy fields is time-consuming and laborious, with low efficiency and a high likelihood of errors. The Sinosecu passport reader is directly connected to the bank's PC via USB for use. It is easy to operate, and it only takes a few seconds to read a document. The recognition accuracy rate is as high as 99.8%. It supports automatic induction triggering and automatic classification of documents, reducing the queuing time for customers and optimizing the business handling process of UOB (Thai).

(3) In recent years, illegal and criminal activities such as opening accounts in someone else's name through forged identification documents for cash withdrawal, telecommunications network fraud, money laundering, etc. have persisted despite repeated bans in various countries. The accuracy rate of bank employees' visual judgment of the authenticity of documents is low. When UOB (Thai) opens accounts for customers at manual counters, bank tellers need to examine the authenticity, validity, and compliance of the identification documents provided by customers to prevent economic losses caused by opening accounts in someone else's name. After the examination is error-free, they continue to handle the relevant business.

When the passport reader is applied at the counters of UOB (Thai), when customers handle the business of card opening, they place their identity cards or passports in the OCR collection area of the passport reader, and the information is automatically collected. The passport reader automatically conducts various inspections of authenticity features, such as inspection of infrared light characteristics, inspection of chip data, cross-verification between OCR data and the content of the electronic chip, etc., to prevent the occurrence of opening accounts with forged documents. The staff saves the identification results to the business system, helping UOB (Thai) establish a complete traceability system, blocking the occurrence of illegal and criminal incidents such as opening cards with forged documents, and reducing economic disputes and losses.

In addition to United Overseas Bank (Thai) PCL, Sinosecu has maintained long-term and stable cooperative relationships with many overseas banks, including the Thai branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Hong Kong branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of East Asia, etc. It continues to assist banks in various countries in building smart finance and jointly promotes the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative of high quality.
